Give-and-take written into CMP

The common minimum programme of the coalition government of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party in Jammu and Kashmir shows both parties coming down from their positions on contentious issues.

The “Agenda of the Alliance”, as it is called, is open to interpretation by each party in its own way before its constituency. A deeper look reveals give-and-take on key issues.

On Article 370, which the BJP wants withdrawn and the PDP uses as the baseline of its self-rule plank, the document calls for status quo.“…considering the political and legislative realities, the present position will be maintained on all the constitutional provisions pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir, including the special status in the Constitution of India,” it says.
