Give Swamy DoT fileby Thursday: Court

November 16, 2011 01:19 am | Updated November 17, 2021 03:36 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The special court hearing the 2G cases has directed the CBI to supply complainant Subramanian Swamy by Thursday evening a certified copy of a DoT file which, he claims, relates to the lock-in period for sale of equity by UAS licensees.

Dr. Swamy claimed that this file would prove the “complicity” of the then Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, in the scam and help him (Dr. Swamy) in the prosecution of his case.

On Tuesday, when Dr. Swamy complained that the CBI was not releasing the document despite the court directing it to do so “at the earliest,” CBI senior public prosecutor A. K. Singh said it would furnish the file,

The CBI had seized the file from the Department of Telecom on October 22, 2009, but did not submit it along with the charge sheet.

Speaking to journalists later, Dr. Swamy alleged that the file would prove that Mr. Chidambaram and the former Telecom Minister, A. Raja, had “colluded” to allow dilution of shares by Swan Telecom and Unitech Wireless so as to bypass the three-year lock-in period for sale of equity by new UAS licensees.
