Backing External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s remarks that the Bhagwad Gita should be declared a “national scripture,” BJP vice-president Dinesh Sharma said on Monday that the text had nothing to do with religion.
“Ms. Swaraj’s remarks were made in the appropriate context. The ‘Gita’ should not be made a matter of controversy. It is not a religious text. It is for the whole humanity. We have to regard it with an open heart,” Mr. Sharma told a press conference at the BJP office in Koba, Gandhinagar.
