Reconsidering his decision to surrender, BJP leader Giriraj Singh on Thursday applied for anticipatory bail in a case filed against him by the Patna police for stating that those opposing Narendra Modi belonged to Pakistan.

Sources close to him said Mr. Singh approached the district judge court here soon after a joint police team of Bihar and Jharkhand raided his residence looking for him. The police raided his residence at Lakhisarai on Wednesday.

Mr. Singh also faces cases filed by the Deogarh and Bokaro police who had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him.

The three police stations filed the cases on the directive of the Election Commission which banned him from campaigning in both the States.

The police said they would pray for the attachment of his property if he continued to elude them.
