BJP president Nitin Gadkari has served a legal notice on Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh for his “scandalous and defamatory” statements against him.

If Mr. Singh failed to apologise for his alleged statements, as reported in sections of the media, that Ajay Sancheti, a ‘business partner’ of Mr. Gadkari, has earned a profit of Rs. 490 crore from the coal mines allocation in Chhattisgarh, he would have to face legal consequences, the notice said.

Referring to various reports, the notice said the “defamatory, scandalous, false and reckless statements and news items have been widely published, circulated and read by the public at large and have lowered the dignity of my client in the eyes of the public.”
