The AIADMK MPs on Tuesday continued to raise their demand to know the names of the UPA Ministers who were involved in pressing for the appointment of a Madras High Court judge in 2004.
Even after Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Manmohan Singh PMO had in June 2005 and 2006 asked the >Supreme Court collegium about the the case of the judge referred to by Justice Katju now in his blog, the MPs demanded to know the details and the names.
Mr. Prasad in his statement said notes were sent to the Supreme Court collegium by the then Law Ministry and the PMO had sought clarifications on the judge.
Trying to placate the agitating MPs Mr. Prasad said the "clock can't be pushed back" and "the honourable judge has retired and is no more". The other judges too have retired, he said. There is an imperative need to improve the system of judicial appointments he said before taking leave of the House.
Even as the Congress raised objections and said a discussion on the issue is not permitted as per rules, the AIADMK MPs walked into the well of the House.
The Lok Sabha was then adjourned amid uproar.
