Cracking the whip on domestic airlines in the wake of reports of high air fares being charged by them during the peak demand period, the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed all scheduled domestic airlines to furnish a copy of the route-wise fares across their networks in various fare categories on the first day of every month.

Maintain records

The regulatory body asked the airlines to maintain all records pertaining to established tariff and publish airfares on their websites or in daily newspapers. “Any significant and noticeable change in the established tariff filed with the DGCA shall be reported to the DGCA within 24 hours of effecting such changes,” a circular issued by the DGCA said.

Insufficient Information

The step was taken by the regulator in view of insufficient and inadequate information available in the public domain, causing inconvenience to travellers.
