From tomorrow, carry your ID on train

November 30, 2012 12:44 am | Updated 12:44 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Come Saturday, rail passengers of reserved compartments should carry their identity proof

To curb touts

In an action aimed at curbing black marketing and curbing the role of touts, the Railways have ruled that those found not possessing valid ID proof would be treated as travelling without ticket.

In the case of a group, at least one of them should possess an identity card.

In February, the Railways made it mandatory for those travelling in air-conditioned coaches to possess identity proof.
