Adding to the mystery surrounding the death of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Shashi Tharoor, MP, Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Friday called the inquest report “inconclusive,” and said the inquest was still pending.
“The evidence is not yet conclusive, as we have no proper forensic report and our inquest is pending. When we get a conclusive report, then only can we reach any conclusion,” Mr. Bassi said.
The post-mortem report has, however, raised many questions on the investigation. The police investigation, it says, has not covered many points, including the reason for external injuries on the body. “… the reason for these physical injuries, circumstantial evidence and statements have not been submitted by the investigation officer in spite of a letter sent on April 4,” the report reads.
On not submitting the circumstantial evidence, the report says: “Photographs from the scene of crime and other circumstantial evidence from the hotel room were not submitted by the investigation officer.”
The report raises questions on the presence of Alprax inside the hotel room where Sunanda was found dead. “There were medicines recovered from the scene of incidence — the hotel room in which the deceased was found dead. Who prescribed these drugs, from where these drugs were procured and who prescribed them?”
