Frenchman dies after fall from train

French national Frank Wilfred (23), who was allegedly pushed out of the Amritsar-bound Sachkhand Express train at the Karnal railway station on April 29, died at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here on Thursday.

Senior police officers said the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE), Manoj Kumar, had been arrested and remanded to police custody after it was discovered that he had reportedly not informed the higher authorities about the incident. They further disclosed that important documents belonging to the victim, including his passport, had allegedly been recovered from the TTE.

Post-mortem

The post-mortem would be conducted by a three-member medical board.

The French Embassy has been informed about the incident.

Officials said the victim, who was found lying on the platform, was initially taken to a local hospital, from where he was referred to the PGI.
