Four militants were killed and an Army jawan was injured in a gun battle that broke out between the ultras and security forces in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, a defence spokesman said.

Acting on specific information, troops of One Para, 32 Rashtriya Rifles and 40 Rashtriya Rifles launched an operation in the dense Hamam-Nardagan Forest in Rafiabad, 65 km from here.

The gun battle broke out when the security forces intercepted the ultras and in the ensuing exchange of fire, four militants were killed, spokesman Lt. Col. J.S. Brar said.

A jawan was also injured in the gun battle.

Four AK 47 rifles, a UBGL (Under Barral Grenade Launcher) and other arms and ammunition were recovered during the operation, which was still going on.
