Former sarpanch’s brother killed

November 18, 2014 12:49 am | Updated 12:49 am IST - DOGRIPORA (AWANTIPORA):

A 48-year-old carpenter was shot dead on Sunday night in the compound of his house in front of his wife and daughter in Dongripora village in Awantipora district.

Questions raised

The brazen murder has raised several questions as the victim, Ghulam Mohideen Dar, was the brother of a former sarpanch, Mohammad Shaban Dar, who had to quit his post after his father was shot dead eight months ago in the same village. The police have registered a case of murder, but no one has come forward to give any information on the assailants.
