FROs given power to extend student visas

Foreigners Registration Offices (FROs), under state home departments, have been delegated powers to extend visas. The move is expected to benefit 93,000 foreign students.

FROs can now extend visas, extend the validity of provisional student visas by six months, rant of additional entries on Student Visa over and above the three entries per year, cancellation of student visas and conversion of visas from student to entry visas and vice versa.
