Flight cancellations leave passengers harried

December 18, 2014 12:25 am | Updated April 07, 2016 05:39 am IST - Chennai/Madurai:

With SpiceJet flights remaining grounded for the first half of the day on Wednesday, the passengers were the worst hit.

The heavy traffic at the airline’s call centre put off many passengers. The airline’s chief operating officer, Sanjiv Kapoor, tweeted, “Flights scheduled to depart on or after 4 p.m. today [Wednesday] will operate. We apologise again for the disruptions.” Irate passengers replied to him saying, “Your apology has no meaning.”

With the holiday season nearing, those who made their bookings earlier this year are now unsure about their ticket status. Passengers who booked tickets during a sale three months ago are not clear about what is in store for them.

“I have booked a ticket to fly from Chennai to Bagdogra in February. While booking, I did not take travel insurance. Now I went online to get insurance, but I was not able to do it. Since the booking was through an offer, it is non-refundable. I am just waiting for an update,” Yogita Abhishek Shah, who runs an advertising firm in Chennai, says.
