Police on Sunday arrested five youths for allegedly raping a teenage girl in the district and preparing her obscene video on a mobile phone.
The arrest was made under Sections 376 (rape), 292 (sale etc of obscene video), 506 (criminal intimidation) and some other Sections of the IPC, police said.
The girl, a class tenth student, on Saturday made a complaint to Barwala police that about two months back while returning from an agriculture field, three youths of her village raped her at knife-point and made a video-clip on a mobile phone.
The 18-year-old victim alleged that the accused threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone.
The video was allegedly circulated to other youths in the village through MMS, she alleged.
The victim also told the police after some days another youth of the village stopped her and showed her the video. He allegedly threatened the victim and raped her. The youth came back again to her house along with his friend and both allegedly raped her.
On Saturday, when the victim had gone out of her house to make some purchases, a brother of one of the accused tried to take her forcibly towards a house, but she, managed to escape and narrated the incident to her family.
After the victim’s medical examination, the police have registered a case against six persons and arrested five youths.
District Police Chief B Satheesh Balan along with other police officers on Saturday visited Barwala police station and ordered the concerned staff to take stern action against the culprits.
In the recent past, a number of rape cases, particularly involving teenaged victims have come to light.
During the past four months, two teenaged rape victims, both Dalits, committed self-immolation after being raped.

Not only are the victims in most such cases are teenagers,it is quite possible that the rapists are also teenagers who would likely
escape with light punishment because of our flawed laws. The SC itself has called for suitable amendments to laws for charging minors also as adults in such instances. It is high time that the government acts immediately.
Delhi, Indore, Bhatinda, we read incidences of crulety, barbarianism. Everyday the media brings up news of such crime called rape. How many lives are lost and how many weretroubled physically and mentally ! What does it show ? is morality of the people wiped away by immoral desires ? Why rape ? Is rape the result of something ? Is there a cause for rape ? Yes rape is the result of lust. Yes rape is caused by lust. What is the remedy ? What is the medicine ? Punishment is necessary but not a remedy. It may be a medicine. In sweet homes, in schools and colleges, in temples and in mosques, in churches and gurudwaras, the need for decency, the need for respecting others, the need self-control, the need for understanding that females are not objects for the pleasure of males, the need for respecting others' individuality and privacy have to be taught and taught seriously.
Brutal! How pathetic is the condition of the poor women in India.I believe it is just tip of an iceberg asmany of such cases are swept under the carpet with money , political and muzzle power. My heart feels for the girl, the helpless victim of the gang rape. What if the culprits are hanged?Or else when they are back from jail, they may be turned into real criminals.Of recent ,parents have lost control over their children and things are going back to the square one.In most of the cases ,the poor dalit girls cannot reveal the tragedy that happened to them in the wake of dire consequences. The internet is to be blamed mainly for this kind of heinous trends.Young children see the vulgur ,obscene scnes of sexual pervertdness on the net and get easily corrupted of their minds.
I believe there can be one thing to stop atrocities against the women folk ,that is to award capital punishment for the perpetrators otherwise the trend may continue uninterrupted all the way.
