As many as 18 fishermen from Gujarat, who were recently released from Pakistan have sought immediate intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for saving the life of their compatriot, who has been languishing in a Pakistani jail for the last 14 months.
They have also sought intervention of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in this regard.
60-year-old Bhagvan Sarman Solanki, from Tad village in Gujarat’s Gir Somnath district, was caught after his boat entered Pakistani territorial waters in April 2015.
“His condition is deteriorating every day. He is in a critical condition and requires a special medical treatment which is not available in the Pakistani jail,” claimed Bharat, one of the 18 released fishermen, while speaking to PTI over phone.
“Hence, we (all the released fishermen) seek the intervention of the Prime Minister and Swaraj to bring him (Solanki) back,” he added. Bharat and 17 others will reach Vadodara tonight.
“All fishermen languishing in Pakistani jails are much worried over deteriorating condition of Solanki,” Bharat claimed. He also claimed that his brother Balunaran died in a Pakistan jail about one and half years ago.
