A fire, said to have been caused by spontaneous heating, broke out in part of a coalmine in Chandrapur in eastern Maharashtra on Thursday night. “The fire at mine no. 4 of the Durgapur Rayatwari Colliery's Western Coalfields Limited was brought under control by an internal team on Friday. No one was injured. No loss has been reported,” chief public relations officer N.K. Singh told The Hindu .

He said the affected area was sealed and would be opened only after the fire died down for lack of oxygen.
