Acting on a complaint filed by assistant police inspector Sachin Suryavanshi, police on Tuesday night registered an FIR against MLA Ram Kadam, independent legislator Kshitij Thakur and 14-15 other people.

The MLAs are accused of assaulting and obstructing Mr. Suryavanshi from doing his duty, threatening him, and abusing him by gathering in an unlawful way in the Assembly. Sections 143, 341, 353, 504, 323, 506(ii) of IPC have been slapped against the accused.

“We have registered the FIR against the MLAs on the complaint filed by Mr. Suryavanshi. He has identified only two people — Mr. Kadam and Mr. Thakur — and has told us that he does not know the names of the others, but can identify them,” Ravindra Shisve, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) told The Hindu.
