Family members of Mostafa Bin Quasem, the MLA who allegedly jumped to his death here on Sunday, suspect foul play behind his death and are considering seeking a judicial inquiry .

“It is the belief of our entire family as well as of our neighbours that my father had not committed suicide…..None of us can accept that it was a case of suicide. He could never have done such a thing”, Masum Bin Quasem, son of the deceased legislator, who belonged to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and had been elected from Basirhat Uttar in North 24 Parganas district, said on Wednesday.

“His death was pre-planned….The fall was not the cause of his death,” he told journalists. His family is also considering approaching Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for a judicial inquiry .
