A Lashkar-e-Taiba militant and his family, including a seven-month-old infant, who were illegally trying to cross over the Line of Control from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir to avail the government’s rehabilitation offer, were on Tuesday sent back by the Army after being told that they should follow proper procedure.
Mohammad Javaid (30), who had joined the LeT 12 years ago, his wife Tabassum alias Sophiya, his three children — Zoya Javaid (5), Mohammad Shakeeb (2) and seven-month-old Abdul Waseem — had crossed the LoC and entered the Digwar forward belt in Poonch district, officials said.
The family claimed it was crossing over into Jammu and Kashmir in response to the Return & Rehabilitation policy initiated for Kashmiri youths who had been lured into taking arms training in PoK by militant groups.
