Additional flights will be flown from June 22 to bring Indian nationals in Qatar back to India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said on Wednesday.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj spoke to Minister for Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju on June 19 to operate additional flights, primarily to cater to the Kerala sector as a large number of Indian nationals in the Gulf country hail from the State.
It has been decided that three routes - Trivandrum-Doha, Doha-Cochin, Cochin-Trivandrum – will operate from June 25 to July 8, 2017 by Air India Express (186 seater).
The Mumbai-Doha-Mumbai flights will operate on June 22 and on June 23 by Jet Airways (168 seater).
The Civil Aviation Ministry was taking all steps necessary for timely movement of Indian nationals from Qatar.
India has been closely following the situation in the region in the wake of the decision by Saudi Arabia and some other Arab countries to break diplomatic relations with Qatar and closing all connectivity links with that country for its alleged support to terrorism.
