Experts to help Ministers with new media

May 31, 2014 04:30 am | Updated 04:30 am IST - NEW DELHI

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking his Council of Ministers to use social media platforms extensively for transparency and better governance, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar has offered the expertise of the communication hub of the new media wing of the Ministry to his ministerial colleagues.

Advocating prolific use of social media, Mr. Javadekar requested them to use the communication hub of the Ministry as a “one-stop place for social media outreach based on the hub-and-spoke model.” Conscious that not all Ministers are tech-savvy, he said experts in the I&B Ministry could also help them set up their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Each Ministry can liaise with the new media wing for packaging and disseminating content, through a variety of tools. The two-way interaction envisaged by the Ministry aims to provide a “360 degree communication approach.”
