An Additional Sessions Court here on Monday convicted former MP Vijay Krishna, his son and two others in the 2009 murder case of transporter Satyendra Singh.

Mr. Krishna was a Rashtriya Janata Dal MP from Barh Lok Sabha seat, who later joined the Janata Dal (United).

Additional Sessions judge Nandkumar Srivastav charged Mr. Krishna, his son Chanakya, his bodyguard Umesh Singh and his domestic help Gagan with murder and criminal conspiracy. The sentence will be pronounced on Wednesday, Public Prosecutor Jaiprakash Singh told The Hindu .

The court also convicted Mr. Chanakya, the shooter, under the Arms Act.

Mr. Singh said, “Eyewitness accounts supported the circumstantial evidence” but there was also strong forensic evidence in the case. The DNA analysis from the bloodstains in Mr. Krishna’s Jhula Niketan flat matched with the victim’s DNA.

According to media reports, Satyendra Singh was a close associate of Mr. Krishna. On May 23, 2009, the transporter went missing under mysterious circumstances. His body was recovered on June 11 from the banks of the Ganga in a decomposed state.
