The minor son of an Angolan diplomat here has been accused of sexually assaulting a classmate and son of a Filipino diplomat.
Though a case has been registered, the police are puzzled about how to proceed considering the diplomatic immunity enjoyed by the family of the juvenile in conflict and are seeking legal advice.
“A case under sections 377 (unnatural sex), 506 (criminal intimidation) and relevant sections of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) has been registered at the South Campus police station. Further investigation is under way,” said a senior police officer.
The juvenile accused and the victim are students of Class V at a prominent school in south Delhi.
The accused stays with his family at the Angolan Embassy in Vasant Vihar while the victim lives with his family at the Philippine Embassy in Chanakyapuri, the police said.
Accusing his classmate of assaulting him over a couple of months, the victim said in his complaint that he was first assaulted in March. Traumatised after the assault, which continued during the summer vacations, the victim later narrated his ordeal to his parents who then approached the police.
