External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna, now in Kuala Lumpur on an official visit, said there should be no let-up in the united global effort to “eliminate the safe havens and sanctuaries that have been provided to terrorists in our own neighbourhood.”
With this thinly veiled reference to Pakistan as a provider of such safe havens and sanctuaries, Mr. Krishna hailed the successful U.S. operation against Osama bin Laden as “a historic development and victorious milestone in the global war against the forces of terrorism.”
However, he cautioned that “the world must not let down its united effort to overcome terrorism.”
“Struggle must continue unabated”
The anti-terror “struggle must continue unabated.”
Noting that “over the years, thousands of innocent lives of men, women, and children have been tragically lost at the hands of terrorist groups,” Mr. Krishna said the latest U.S. “operation brings to closure an almost decade-long search for the head of the al-Qaeda.”
