Eight suspected Maoists arrested

Eight suspected Maoists detained on Monday were arrested after two days of intensive interrogation, police said today.

All the Maoists were handed over to Bonai police in Sundargarh district and they were today produced before a court, where they were remanded to jail custody for two weeks.

They were identified as Harinath Singh, Sankar Singh, Asanku Singh, Sabinder Singh, Krishna Chandra Saha, Debunath Singh, Dudha Oram, and Rade Singh, and natives of Karda village under Chandiposh police limits in Bonai sub-division.

They have been accused of killing BMS leader Sukra Oram and a CRPF jawan, besides looting electronic voting machines from Kard polling booth in the last Assembly elections and disruption of NH-23 traffic twice, police said.
