Today, Mukund Padmanabhan completes a successful run as Editor of The Hindu and Suresh Nambath, formerly National Editor, takes over from him.

Having joined this newspaper in June 1997 as an editorial writer, Mr. Padmanabhan gave a new vibrancy to the feature and analysis sections, including the newspaper’s in-depth election reportage and analysis. He curated The Hindu’s Theatre Fest and November Fest. He became Editor of BusinessLine, the Group’s business daily, in 2013.

During his editorship of The Hindu starting 2016, Mr. Padmanabhan introduced and anchored several innovations in the content and presentation of the newspaper. He conceptualised and conducted ‘The Huddle,’ the newspaper’s annual thought conclave. Mr. Padmanabhan oversaw the seamless and fast-track re-design of both BusinessLine and The Hindu. He took steps to enhance the newspaper’s digital presence and content and launched the news app Briefcase.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of our publishing Group, I record our warm appreciation of Mukund Padmanabhan’s contributions to our Group publications over more than two decades, and in particular his contributions as Editor of The Hindu.

N. Ram, Chairman, The Hindu Group Publishing Pvt. Ltd.
