Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday said that the economic stimulus packages announced in the wake of last year’s downturn will continue for the time being.

“I do not see that we are operating at full capacity of our economy. Until those capacity limitations are reached, inflationary consequences are likely to minimal.

“Whatever has been provided in the stimulus packages by the Finance Minister, we will continue for the time being,” he said.

The Prime Minister was asked about the G-20 summit decision in Pittsburgh that resolved to continue with the global stimulus package announced in London earlier this year and whether India would continue with it.

Replying to another question whether the recent floods in the South would have an effect on country’s GDP growth, he said it was too early to say. He, however, said that the projection was that growth this year was likely to be 6.2 to 6.5 per cent.
