Earthquake shakes North East

A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale shook parts of the North East on Tuesday.

The epicentre of the quake was located along the Myanmar-India border and occurred at 2.32 pm, officials at the Central Seismological Observatory said here.

The impact of the quake was felt at many places in the North East including Guwahati, Shillong, Imphal, Itanagar and northern Bengal.

There was no report of any damage to life and property, they added.
