Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily on Sunday said the joint committee announced by the Centre would ready the draft of the Lokpal Bill by June 30 to be placed before Parliament in the monsoon session. The Bill would be passed within a year of its being tabled, he said in an informal chat with presspersons here.

Mr. Moily, who is the convener of the committee, said its first meeting would be held in New Delhi on April 16. The Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and members of the committee would attend.

Asked about Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa's support to social activist Anna Hazare's anti-corruption struggle, Mr. Moily said sarcastically: “There must be something.”
