Don’t reveal players’ names, media told

November 15, 2014 01:55 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:52 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

On an oral request to the media by the Supreme Court, The Hindu has decided against publishing the names of three cricketers inadvertently mentioned during the hearing on Friday. Justice T.S. Thakur read out the names contained in the Mudgal report.

When senior counsel Harish Salve pointed out that the list contained three players, Justice Thakur said, “At the first instance, we did not want the players to be named. But we were not aware that they are players as they are not familiar ones.”

At the end of the hearing, Justice Thakur requested the media not to reveal the names. By that time, the damage had already been done as TV channels and websites flashed the names.
