The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command is likely to initiate disciplinary action against the former Karnataka Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa for publicly attacking its three top leaders.
Terming this attack the “height of irresponsibility,” a senior party leader said there was no need for the State unit to even report the matter to the high command as the latter had already taken serious note of it.
“The action is going to be stringent,” he said and made it clear that it would be initiated some time after party president Nitin Gadkari returned from Israel on May 20.
“It is like attacking three topmost posts in the party,” he said.
What has upset the party organisation is that Mr. Yeddyurappa desisted from raising these issues in party fora though he had all the opportunity to do so.“It will set a bad precedent if the party does not act against Mr. Yeddyurappa,” a senior leader felt.
Shettar as Deputy CM?
The BJP is reportedly gearing up to appoint Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar as the Deputy Chief Minister to save its government headed by Mr. Sadananda Gowda from the crisis. According to sources, the move is also a ploy to divide the Yeddyurappa camp as Mr. Shettar had recently moved there. Mr. Shettar, who also belongs to Mr. Yeddyurappa's community of Lingayat, hails from Hubli region.
