Devas Multimedia on Thursday insisted it had secured all required approvals for its project with Antrix Corporation from the highest levels of government, including from the Union Cabinet. The company alleged in a brief but muscular statement that it was never informed about the review of the agreement any time prior to February 8, 2011. On the contrary, it was assured that the delays in delivery of the satellite capacity were only on account of “technical issues.”
Tossing the ball back into the Centre's court, Devas said it had “fulfilled all of its obligations in respect of the Agreement over the past six years” and was awaiting the delivery of the contracted space segment capacity, which has been delayed by more than two years.
“Devas Multimedia has a legally binding Agreement with Antrix Corporation… Devas proceeded with the project after required consents and approvals were obtained within GOI , culminating with [the] Space Commission and Union Cabinet, and the same were confirmed to us by Antrix in February 2006,” Devas Multimedia president and CEO Ramachandran Viswanathan said.
