Denied jerkin, 10-year-old commits suicide

December 22, 2014 08:20 pm | Updated 08:32 pm IST - Pune:

A 10-year-old in Pune committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan after his parents allegedly refused to buy him a jerkin he craved for.

According to the police, Aditya Pisal, the son of a local builder, was given to throwing tantrums and locking himself up when his demands went unmet.

On Sunday night, Aditya, a class V student, was upset after his parents bought him a sweater instead of the jerkin he had demanded.

“Aditya was sulking after his parents castigated him for his obstinacy. He then locked himself in his room around 9: 30 p.m. on Sunday and refused to come out. When calls to come out went unheeded, anxious relatives broke down his door only to find the boy hanging by a dupatta from the ceiling fan,” said a senior police officer at Dhankawadi police station.
