The five accused in the December 16, 2012 Delhi gang rape case on Saturday pleaded not guilty to all charges framed against them and sought trial, which will begin on February 5.
The charges framed by a special fast-track court, after it found prima facie evidence in the police charge sheet, include murder, gang rape, unnatural offences, kidnapping, dacoity, destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy.
The proceedings are being conducted in-camera and, on the request of the prosecution, the court on January 21 restrained the media from publishing any news relating to the proceedings.
Almost all the charges that the Delhi Police slapped on the accused have been framed by the court. The court added a new charge under Section 366 (kidnapping with intent to force the victim into illicit intercourse) of the IPC.
The accused are bus driver Ram Singh, his brother Mukesh, Vinay Sharma, Pawan Gupta and Akshay Singh. The sixth accused is a juvenile, and the matter is proceeding before a Juvenile Justice Board.
On January 3, the Delhi Police filed the charge sheet in a magisterial court, which took cognisance of it on January 5. On January 17, the case was committed to the special fast-track court, where arguments started on January 24.

What does the DNA report say?? The only eye witness, the boyfriend who
survived the torment, should be heard. When will India be seen as a
civilized country and society??
to all or only 5 out of 6 ?
will the victim get justice?
It is quite obvious that some people just don't have that small thing
called one's conscience. No soul to bother them! I only hope their
lawyers don't try all sorts of tactics to twist the facts or find
loopholes in the law to anyhow save these culprits!
And that fifth culprit, the so-called juvenile, well it is high time
that an ordinance be brought out that a criminal be treated as a
Juvenile only for immature crimes, not for cold-blooded rapes or
murders! A 17 and a half year old boy is a fully grown-up man and
until a few years ago, a 18 yr old boy was legally eligible for
marriage! Now he can coolly walk away with any brutality being a
juvenile! That's pathetic! SOMEONE-the CJI or the President or
whosoever - should have the right to exercise their discretion and
rule that he should be treated as an adult.
The law wants to protect the human rights of these criminals, but what
about the human rights of the young girl who suffered so brutally in
the hands of these culprits and died?
Seriously!!!!!!! When the whole world knows they are guilty, how could
even these butchers plead for not being guilty. Either they have lost
their senses or they think entire judiciary system is a joke. I think
there should not be any hearing for these ..... just hang them......
or hand them down to the public.
If these peoples are freed and any leniency is given to them at any stage, then this will be the defeat of our legal system, as the system is already so frustrated of its being weak and old age.
shame on the lawyers who are protecting such persons just for some money.no
value for human dignity n life.dark future for india.no morality in ppls.shame
India has a very poor record when it comes to protection of women. The
laws are lax. Hardly 10 % cases are filed and in which 95% guilty
persons go scot free. It is high time we should have fast courts and
guilty are punished within a month. I remember a US Court had given a
choice of castration or life imprisonment on being found guilty. And
life imprisonment meant no parole or concessions.
Good step. If anyone has ever respected a lady in their lifetime, these criminals
should be hanged till death. The reason is simple. This can help curb the great
danger of cultural violations and sensitivity that is spreading fast in our country. Its
very important for leaders to understand and tackle with this today, and not wait for
another 10 years to act on it. What angers me is the fact that they have guts to plead
not guilty. Really calling these men animals is like insulting animals. They are worse.
