Sahara’s plea on bank accounts

We never ordered freezing of business operations, says Bench

December 18, 2014 12:35 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:14 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Already grappling with the challenge of raising Rs. 10,000 crore to pay for the release of its chief Subrata Roy on bail, the Sahara group on Wednesday pleaded with the Supreme Court to defreeze its bank accounts, saying it is otherwise “doomed for destruction.”

The request from the business house saw a Bench led by Justice T.S. Thakur clarify that the court had never ordered the freezing of its business operations and had only frozen its assets.

The court asked Sahara counsel S. Ganesh to file an application detailing the bank accounts which had been frozen, the companies affected and the money in these accounts for consideration of the plea.
