The Congress and the CPI(M) were one on Tuesday in criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for scrapping Planning Commission without having an alternative in mind. While the Congress described the contours provided by Mr. Modi for the new set-up in his Independence Day speech as ``half-baked,’’ the CPI(M) said the decision was in line with the neo-liberal view that there is no need ``even for a semblance of planning in a market-oriented’’ economy.
Both parties reacted to the Prime Minister’s Independence Day announcement on Tuesday after his morning tweet inviting ideas from people on the “shape of the institution to replace Planning Commission.”
