A 58-year-old man whose legs had to be amputated, following injuries sustained in the blast outside the Delhi High Court, passed away on Saturday morning at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here. With this the death toll in the blast rose to 15.

Rattan Lal Shroff, a garments commissioning agent and resident of Model Town, had waged an uphill battle for the past 10 days.

He had suffered multiple fractures on his legs, besides serious chest injuries, RML doctors said.

Doctors had to amputate his legs as the blood vessels had been damaged beyond repair.

Corrective surgery was done twice following the amputations and his left leg had to be amputated above the knees to prevent spread of the infection.

He is survived by his wife, three married daughters and a son pursuing his final year engineering studies at Kurukshetra University.

On Friday, he had expressed a desire to meet his wife and son, doctors attending on him said. Mr. Shroff had come to the court in connection with a property dispute case when the explosion occurred outside Gate No. 5.
