Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama chose not to comment on the terror attack on Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya, but his office maintained that he could possibly brief the media in a couple of days.

The Dalai Lama is camping now at Bylakuppe, where his 78th birthday was celebrated at a multi-religious gathering at the Sera Jey Monastic University complex on Saturday. On Sunday, he was stated to be engaged in spiritual discourses and interaction with leaders of various monasteries.

Incessant queries

Informed sources said there were incessant queries from media as also concerned individuals seeking his reaction to the blasts and hence it was thought fit to brief the media rather than answer every one individually. “A response from the Dalai Lama may be expected in a couple of days’ time,” said the sources though he could not confirm the exact date.

The Dalai Lama will camp at Bylakuppe till July 11 and will proceed to Gurupura near Hunsur on July 12 and stay there for four days. He will also visit other Tibetan settlements in Karnataka and his Karnataka leg of trip is expected to conclude around July 23 or 24, said the sources. Meanwhile, the office-bearers of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) have expressed their dismay at the developments.
