BJP on Monday demanded that an FIR be registered against Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit after her name figured in the CAG report on alleged irregularities in the Commonwealth Games.
“The CAG report against Delhi CM has clearly put her in the dock. Not only should she resign, we demand that an FIR should be lodged against her,” the party spokesperson Tarun Vijay told reporters here.
“Her right place is with (former Telecom Minister and 2G scam accused) A Raja and (former chief of CWG organising committee and accused in Games scam) Suresh Kalmadi behind the bars. Until it happens, we will not let this Government have even a single moment of relief,” he said.
Accusing the Congress of having “double standards” on the issue of corruption, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said, “On the one hand, they demanded Karnataka CM B.S. Yeddyurappa’s resignation but are not ready to do so when Dikshit is facing the same kind of charges.”
However, Congress MP Atyavrat Chaturvedi said the two issues were totally different.
“CAG is an audit agency whereas the Lokayukta is an investigating agency. Audit agencies express their objections in audit and the Public Accounts Committee examines them. If there is any criminal aspect of it, the PAC will express its views. After that only, any action can be taken.”
He said the Government was ready to discuss all issues “but they should be done peacefully and under the rules. For this, all the parties need to cooperate and work together. But you can’t take up ten issues at one go.”
