Cross-examination of senior IPS officer Anju Gupta, a key witness in the Babri Masjid demolition case, on Monday concluded in a special CBI court here.

Ms. Gupta, who was deployed as a security officer with BJP leader L.K. Advani on December 6, 1992 at the site of the disputed structure, was cross-examined by defence counsel L. B. Singh and Vimal Srivastava, prosecution sources said.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vishnu Prasad Agarwal posted the matter for hearing on January 25.

On March 26 last year, she had deposed before the Court that Mr. Advani gave a provocative speech in Ayodhya moments before the mosque was demolished by sangh parivar activists.

Ms. Gupta, who was then posted as Assistant Superintendent of Police in Faizabad, was on special duty entrusted with the security of Mr. Advani when the demolition took place.

On November 19, Ms. Gupta had also told the court that two press photographers were attacked by an aggressive mob of kar sewaks on the fateful day.
