The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday expressed serious concern at the U.S. not allowing India to interrogate David Coleman Headley, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative of Pakistani origin, in connection with the Mumbai terror attacks, and asked the government to be "bold enough" to demand access.
Raising the issue during zero hour in the Lok Sabha, M.B. Rajesh said India had the right to interrogate Headley, as he appeared the prime conspirator. "The U.S. has strangely refused permission to India to question Headley." For, the LeT operative had "close links" with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and possibly with the CIA. In fact, the CIA gave him the name Headley, he said. India had no hesitation in allowing Ajmal 'Kasab,' the lone surviving gunman, to be interrogated by the FBI, but it was "shameful that the Government is not bold enough to demand interrogation of Headley," he said
