Court summons Madhu Koda

A special court here on Tuesday summoned the former Jharkhand Chief Minister, Madhu Koda, and seven others in a coal block allocation scam case.

Taking cognisance of the charge sheet, Special Judge Bharat Prashar directed all the accused to appear before the court on February 18.

The other accused whom the court summoned in connection with the allocation of a coal block to private company Vini Iron and Steel Udyog Limited (VISUL) in Jharkhand’s Rajhara town allegedly in an illegal manner are State’s former Chief Secretary, Ashok Kumar Basu, former Coal secretary Harish Chandra Gupta, Basant Kumar Bhattachariya, then Section Officer, Department of Mines, Jharkhand Government, Bipin Bihari Singh, Dircetor (Mines), Government of Jharkhand, Vaibhav Tulsiyan, promoter of the company, chartered accountant Navin kumar Tulsyan, and a private person Vijay Joshi.

The CBI has charged them with criminal conspiracy and cheating under the IPC and under PCA.
