The Delhi High Court on Wednesday stayed the release and circulation of Close Encounter with Niira Radia, the book on the corporate lobbyist.
Justice V.K. Jain granted the stay on a petition by Ms. Radia submitting that its circulation would damage her reputation and violate her fundamental right to life, liberty and privacy. The book was scheduled for release in the first week of next month.
Written by advocate R.K. Anand and edited by the former executive editor of India Today magazine, Inderjit Badhwar, it has been published by Har-Anand Publications. The book is based on Ms. Radia's tapped telephonic conversations with businessmen, politicians and journalists.
Justice Jain also issued notices to the author and the publisher asking them to file replies by July 22, the next date of hearing.
Ms. Radia had earlier sought a stay on the release of Hindi film Monica: The Politics of Murder submitting that it was based on her life.
