A court here on Monday directed the Delhi Police to file a status report on a complaint by a prosecution witness in the cash-for-vote case, alleging that Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh and two others threatened and kidnapped him on September 25, 2008. Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar, acting on Hashmat Ali's complaint, ordered the Station House Officer of the Tughlak Road police station to file the status report on November 21.
The cash-for-vote case is being probed by the Crime Branch and the matter is proceeding before a special court at Tis Hazari.
Ali alleged that on September 25, 2008, when he was to record his testimony before a parliamentary enquiry committee, he was kidnapped by two aides of Mr. Amar Singh and taken to the former Samajwadi Party leader's Lodhi Estate home.
Mr. Amar Singh also threatened to kill him and he was kept in illegal confinement for a few hours before he was handed over to the police in the presence of the media, Mr. Ali alleged and demanded that a first information report be registered against the three.
