An Army Court of Inquiry on Saturday ordered the dismissal of the former Military Secretary, Lieutenant General (retired) Avadesh Prakash, from service after he was found guilty in the Sukhna land scam.

Defence Public Relations Officer Lt. Colonel S.S. Phogot told The Hindu that Lt. Gen. Prakash was found guilty by the General Court Martial (CGM) of three of the four charges.

He was given the benefit of the doubt on the fourth count of committing a civil offence.

Lt. Gen. Prakash would lose his rank and benefits such as pension, provident fund and medical facilities.

The scam relates to transfer of 71 acres of land adjacent to the Sukna military station in West Bengal to a private trust in 2008.

The GCM, comprising seven General Officers, was held at 51 Sub Area of the Army located in the Narengi area here.
