Court issues warrants against 12 workers

A court has issued warrants against 12 workers, including the office-bearers of the Maruti Suzuki Workers’ Union (MSWU), in connection with the violent confrontation between workers and the management at the company’s Manesar plant this past week in which a general manager was killed and 100 persons sustained injuries.

“A special investigation team is conducting raids at possible hideouts of these workers and hope to make arrests soon,” said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, MSWU secretary Yogesh Kumar, who was arrested on Sunday, has been remanded in police custody till July 27 by a court here.

Naveen, Surender Pal, Satbir and Pradeep, who were arrested with him, were remanded in two-day police custody.

Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union president Kuldeep Janghu has denied reports of a possible strike at Maruti’s Gurgaon plant. .
