Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi is in trouble for the alleged “hate speeches” he delivered at Nizamabad and at Nirmal in Adilabad district against the majority community on December 8 and 22 respectively.
The police registered cases under IPC Section 121 (waging or attempting to wage a war against the State) and Section 153 (A) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, language and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) both non-bailable offences. The cases were filed after the Congress government faced widespread criticism for soft-pedalling on the issue.
Away in London
Mr. Owaisi, according to Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy, would be arrested if the charges against him were confirmed in the investigation. He said notices would be served with immediate effect on Mr. Owaisi, who is presently in London for medical treatment.
The police have decided to wait for Mr. Owaisi’s return and were hopeful that he would come back. “But we will requisition the services of the Interpol if there is an iota of doubt that he is purposefully trying to avoid police investigation,” Mr. Dinesh Reddy told reporters here.
The DGP said there was a prima facie case against the MLA, but the police had to investigate further, including questioning Mr. Owaisi. Denying that there was delay in registering cases against Mr. Owaisi, Mr. Reddy said lower rung officials, who were providing security at the public meetings, could not understand the import of his comments.

How could he make such provoking statements in front of large number of people? What about the police arrangements during speech? General people can not play loud speakers and this kind of MLA is making inflammatory speech. Such a coward government! Shame on poor governance.
Government official are trying to protect Owaisi, in fear to lose their
vote bank. If Government really want harmony then they should scan all
MIM's speakers speeches they will found more such people. And media
also need to investigate same.
He should be debarred from contesting elections and from voting for his
life time. This will set an example for all those who indulge in such
hate speeches to divide the society on religion/caste/region/language
basis. Also MIM should be expelled from participation in elections for a
period of ten years. All other parties shall fall in line from
encouraging such tactics for electoral benefits.
Yes, it is highly regrettable that Mr. Owaisi, supposedly educated and
urban politician should make such an inflammatory speech which he
might think give political mileage. Contrary to what he might think,
it will not only wean away his party's sympathizers' but damage the
interests of members of his own community besides offering a
fundamental forces from majority and minority communities a chance to
assert themselves and reinforce their presence. He should immediately apologize to his fellow countrymen. Government should take stern
action against him if he fails to do so.
Where is the ferocity in reporting and speaking against such hate speech
which was otherwise blown out of proportion by 'The Hindu'? He must be
ousted from parliament .
In fact the police authorities should have on their own initiated action to book the chap which they failed to do. It is this wilful failure that is a greater cause of worry than the senseless utterances of Owaisi and his ilk.
The party in question is thriving by creating a fear psychosis among
minorities. On one hand they call themselves the champions of minorities
while on the other hand they do pretty little for the cause of the
downtrodden of the minorities. Hope people see through their evil
designs and vote for better representatives
From what I know there was such a hue and cry for alleged inflammatory speech of Varun Gandhi but none for Owaisi. What kind of leftist "secular" media is this? Simply stating every media has choosen its side of politics and will not do any justice to common reader who wants unadulterated journalism.
It is not at all fair for the responsible media house like "The Hindu"
to report that late on such a issues. Where are the so called force of
secular, intellectual and responsible media houses , parties and
leaders who rally behind the principles of secularism. It is highly disappointing that it took almost a week to highlight this issue.
Would the reaction have been same if it would not have been done by the
person from the majority religion. Why are the two different standards
of secularism applied even by the very responsible media houses also.
Where are the "secularists".I am waiting to see them talk about it on national media.
Government and courts should make sure this bigot lives in jail hole for
rest of his life.
If laws fails to punish, I'm afraid, right wings will take full
advantage of it and may become bigger problem.
Sir ,It is very common among political and religious leaders to speak
bad about each other and create tension and fearfulness among the
society.
What bothers me a lot , is the crowd support the way they are cheering
on every provocative and hatred word he speaks....common people wake up
these politicians are not loyal to their family how can they be
ours.....
