As AIADMK workers continue to protest TNCC president E.V.K.S. Elangovan’s remarks, he has left for New Delhi.

The BJP on Friday wrote to Congress president Sonia Gandhi seeking action against him for his remarks.

Sources said he is expected to meet Congress general secretary Mukul Wasnik, in-charge of Tamil Nadu affairs, on Saturday.

The Madras High Court, meanwhile, declined relief to him in an anticipatory bail application in an unrelated case. Police registered a case against Mr. Elangovan based on a complaint lodged by Valarmathi, a former staff of the TNCC Charitable Trust, accusing him of assaulting her. In the letter to Ms. Gandhi, State BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan took strong exception to the “unparliamentary words” Mr. Elangovan used at a Congress protest event last week, where he made remarks about the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on August 7
