Contest to send people to space

September 16, 2014 11:28 pm | Updated 11:28 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

An American firm has launched a contest to send people to space. On Monday, Spaceship Earth Grants started a programme which will allow one of every 50,000 applicants on a flight to the outer space.

Contestants need to pitch provocative ideas which could make Earth a better place to live in.

The closing date for applications, which include a video entry, is December 31. Those selected would participate in a social media rally to attract attention. The winners will be announced in April.

The award includes a trip aboard the winner’s choice of spaceflight, training and travel expenses, including airfare.
